Governor's Volunteer Stars Awards
The Governor's Volunteer Stars Awards (GVSA) is an annual initiative from Volunteer Tennessee that seeks to recognize outstanding volunteers from each of Tennessee's 95 counties.
Every year since 2008, participating counties conduct a call for nominations recognizing one outstanding youth and one outstanding adult volunteer.
The Governor’s Volunteer Stars Awards also recognizes one business and one non-profit from each of Tennessee’s three Grand Regions for their outstanding community involvement and service.

Tennessee Conference on Volunteerism and Service Learning
The Tennessee Conference on Volunteerism and Service-Learning is the Volunteer State's leading event for organizations, educators, and individuals engaged in service and focused on making change in their communities.
The annual event aims to increase service and volunteerism across Tennessee. The conference will encourage service leaders and participants to collaborate to address needs in Tennessee while utilizing service as a vehicle for education and change.
We are challenging our participants to understand the impact of utilizing service as a vehicle for community change.
Administered through Friends of Volunteer Tennessee, this scholarship is designed to support leaders in volunteer engagement who are pursuing their professional CVA credentials through the Council for Certification in Volunteer Administration. KEY DETAILS & COVERAGE
- The scholarship provides full coverage for the standard $400 USD initial CVA certification exam fee.
- What is excluded: It does not cover study materials, late registration fees, or travel expenses.
- Eligibility: It is strictly open to Tennessee residents and first-time CVA examinees.
- Distribution: Friends of Volunteer Tennessee awards up to 5 bursaries per application cycle.
